The studies in Contemporary History Sub-Department begins in 1789, and it lasts until 1918, when Ottoman Empire collapsed. This field examines political, social and economic developments of the dynamic period between eighteenth and twentieth centuries. The sub-department discusses Ottoman Empire by considering the developments in Europe and world. Contemporary History sub-department’s courses aim to discuss the political, military and social transformations and events in the Ottoman Empire in comparative perspective.
