According to Samsun University’s regulations about associate and undergraduate degrees, each student must have a advisor. The class advisors assist students in terms of:

1. Course selection for the fall and spring semesters
2. Course add/drop
3. Preparing and checking student’s weekly course schedule
4. Choosing a course from other cohorts
5. Choosing a course among elective courses
6. Choosing a course in the summer school (if student asks to attend summer school)
7. Exemption from a course (if applicable to students)
8. Information about the department and chair
9. Procedures concerning the makeup exams.

In addition to these, the advisors guide students regarding the university policy, regulations, university programs and carreer opportunities.
